Type of Appointment: This is a full-time, Excepted Indefinite, dual-status position which requires Georgia Air National Guard Membership. _Position is Indefinite but may convert to Permanent without further competition. If a tenured applicant is selected, tenure will not change._

Summary: This position islocated in an Air National Guard Aviation Unit, Operations Directorate. Aircraft include: E8-C. The purpose of this position is for providing ground and flight training for developing, upgrading, and evaluating skills of Airborne Mission Systems Specialist (AMSS); to provide training to instructors and flight examiners on instruction technique, student assessment and training techniques; to perform Airborne Mission Systems ground and aircrew communications duties, to include telecommunications, radar, computer networking, sensors, electronic systems and secure voice/data links on worldwide command and control in support of combat, peacetime, humanitarian and Personal Recovery (PR) missions; to perform air operations related staff support duties.
Permanent Change of Station (PCS): PCS is not authorized.

Background Check: Selectee may, at the option of the agency, be required to submit to criminal, credit history, and general background checks which will be evaluated by the agency prior to a final offer of employment and access into the Georgia National Guard Federal Technician or Active Guard/Reserve program.
National Guard Membership: This position requires military membership. It is designated for Georgia Air National Guard Enlisted incumbent only. In accordance with ANG regulations, incumbent performs duties necessary to accomplish Telecommunications Specialist (Instructor-Airborne) functions in support of programs essential to state Air National Guard daily operations, training and readiness missions.
As a member of a unit of the Georgia Air National Guard, you will be required to train with your unit, normally one weekend a month and 15 days of annual training each year. Georgia Air National Guard units and members are subject to immediate call to federal or state active duty to meet national or state emergencies.
Must be a current U.S. Citizen. Under 5 USC 2108 & 5 CFR 211, Veteran's Preference criteria does not apply. Direct Deposit Banking is Mandatory. Military Requirement: Enlisted AFSC 1A3X1.
The following list is not comprehensive but provides a snapshot of some of the duties that may be required of this position:
Performs as Instructor/Evaluator for the Airborne Mission Systems Specialist.
Performs as Standardization/Evaluation Flight Examiner, ensures established standards of flight proficiency are maintained through evaluation and observation; administers scheduled and unscheduled evaluations during operational and training flights; analyzes evaluation data for adverse trends in performance; conducts flight evaluation critiques; recommends necessary changes or improvements; and develops testing material for evaluations.
Performs telecommunications aircrew duties as an Airborne Mission Systems Specialist (AMSS) on ground and airborne platforms in a high threat combat environment.
Receives, inventories, issues, and destroys Communications Security (COMSEC) materials for the unit.
Performs technical and analytical work pertaining to the planning, development, acquisition, testing, integration, installation, utilization, and modification of electronic and telecommunications systems, services and procedures.
Performs as necessary required mission planning and staff work in areas such as scheduling, training, current operations, standards and evaluation, intelligence, weapons and tactics, chief of staff, mission planning, combat readiness, exercises, safety and flight duties.
GENERAL
Experience: Minimum eligibility requirements for positions in the occupation are based on possession of the appropriate aircrew certifications and/or appropriate military training requirements. Candidates must demonstrate possession of the knowledge skills and abilities (KSAs) required for the position by meeting the minimum experience requirements as described in the gaining command directives. Additionally, candidates must be qualified as a rated ART, CST, AOT or SDT in the aircraft supported by the 116th ACW. Minimum flight experience requirements specified below must be verified on a Flying History report.

Total E-8C Flight Hours - E-8C flight hours may be waived provided applicant meets or exceeds the total requirements using a combination of E-8C hours and hours from another C2 and/or ISR platform.
Instructor Hours - Requirement may be waived by Operations Group Commander if applicant meets all AFI 11-2E-8V1 requirements for instructor upgrade.
Flying Hours, Last 12 Months - For in-service placement actions, up to one-half of the flight hours may be waived provided the individual's total background reflects the ability to perform the duties of the position safely.
SPECIALIZED
Experience: Applicant must possess a minimum of above specialized experience that provided the knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) as listed below. Such experience is gained in a line of work or training program similar to or closely related to the work of the position to be filled.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs): Applicants who meet the eligibility requirements will be further evaluated by the Selecting Official based on the following KSAs considered essential to perform the duties and responsibilities of this position.
Knowledge of and skill required to operate, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and test airborne radar, computers, communication systems, and associated cooling systems and a thorough understanding of operating principles and characteristics of airborne computer, radar, and communication systems and subsystems.
Knowledge of and skill required to conduct preflight, power on, and power down of airborne radar, computer, communication systems, and associated cooling systems.
Knowledge of and skill required to observe fault indications and software messages for system malfunctions, assesses impact of malfunction, and initiates appropriate procedures in accordance with technical data.
Knowledge of and skill required to run diagnostic programs, replaces modules, parts, and performs in-flight maintenance as required.
Knowledge of and skill required to assess computer, radar, and communication system's status and coordinates with appropriate crew members concerning configuration and optimization of mission systems.
Knowledge of and skill of emergency procedures and equipment.
Knowledge and capability to perform duties as a primary mission crew firefighter during simulated and actual emergencies.
Knowledge and capability to perform mission planning and staff work as required in areas such as scheduling, training, current operations, standards and evaluations, intelligence, weapons and tactics, combat readiness, exercises, safety, and other mission related duties.
Other Requirements: For positions requring a security clearance _(Secret or Top Secret),_ selectee must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within one year of appointment.
National Guard Compatibility: Once an applicant is selected and prior to being placed in the technician position, the selectee must be assigned to any unit in the Georgia Air National Guard as an Enlisted member in AFSC: 1A3X1.
