SummaryThis position is for a IT Specialist (CustSpt), PD# D2182P01 located in the Communications Section in an Air National Guard Wing, located at the 116h Communications Squadron on Robins AFB, Georgia.
This is a full-time, Excepted Indefinite Not To Exceed 2 Years, dual status position which requires Georgia Air National Guard Membership.
Position is Indefinite however, may convert to permanent without further competition.

Clarification from the agencyCurrent members of the Georgia Air National GuardDutiesAs a IT Specialist (CUSTSPT), GS-2210-11, you will:
Manage the assigned IT/communications environment with privileged access at the network level for the Wing, Geographically Separated Units (GSU), and Tenants.
Develop, recommend, and install solutions and upgrades to ensure availability, integrity, efficiency, and reliability of all components of the assigned system.
Serve as a focal point for ensuring functionality and operability of the assigned IT/data systems/functions, voice and wireless systems to support mission requirements of Wing, Geographically Separated Units (GSU), and Tenants.
Provide ongoing technical support to customers to ensure proper functional use of equipment and programs and to preclude undue interruptions to IT and communications services.
Determine customer requirements and assists customers by recognizing and analyzing trends and providing instruction and orientation services.
Install, maintain, and repair hardware devices supporting a broad range of information and communications systems.
Review and validate radio frequency allocations.
Provide spectrum management guidance to units deploying equipment in support of contingency, exercise, or wartime requirements.
Participate with operating officials, system users, and others in progress review of established systems to determine the reliability, productivity, and user friendliness of the existing system hardware and software.
Coordinate efforts between system customers, system support personnel and commercial vendors to identify and resolve hardware, software, and other system anomalies.
Maintain records of analyses, tests, and the techniques and procedures applied in problem resolution to establish a record of activities for future use.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements Conditions of Employment NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.

Must possess experience that has provided a basic knowledge of data processing functions and general management principles that enabled the applicant to understand the stages required to automate a work process.
Experience may have been gained in work such as computer operator or assistant, computer sales representative, program analyst, or other positions that required the use or adaptation of computer programs and systems.
Specialized
Experience:
Candidate must have 36 months specialized experience that approaches techniques and requirements appropriate to an assigned computer applications area or computer specialty area in an organization.
Experience planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment where this entailed coordination with others outside the organizational unit and development of project controls.
Experience that required adaptations of guidelines or precedents to meet the needs of the assignment.
Experience preparing documentation on cost/benefit studies where is involved summarizing the material and organizing it in a logical fashion.

Knowledge of network operations, security methods, and network architecture optimization techniques; the capabilities and limitations of the IT systems, infrastructure and software configuration in order to manage the tenant network, carry out network and/or independent platform projects and coordinate efforts with others affected in the organization.
Knowledge of systems development, modification, testing, installation, operations, and support concepts as well as the organization's network and infrastructure architecture and protocols to provide support related to:
test, evaluation, installation, configuration and modification of hardware and software for operating systems, network platform, and interface connectivity.
Provision of network services and planning for increased or changed requirements; modifications and integration of network systems and infrastructure consistent with existing or planned infrastructure/architecture; configuration management changes and upgrades; and connectivity between remote sites.
